Elizabeth Mpfou, general coordinator of La Via Campesina and a small holder farmer who also leads the Zimbabwe Small Holder Farmers’ Forum (ZIMSOFF), made a presentation at the Global Dialogue held in Rome as part of the International Year of Pulses (IYP) on the 23rd of November 2016. She is also the IYP Special Ambassador for Africa region.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organised a Global Dialogue (GD) on the International Year of Pulses 2016 at its headquarters in Rome, Italy from 22 to 23 November 2016. The GD provided a forum for various stakeholders in the pulses sector, to discuss the issues and the challenges related to the production, consumption and trade of pulses. 

The two – day facilitated event brought together a wide spectrum of stakeholders and representatives of each region (Africa, Near East, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean).
